Lap Boy

May 9, 2006

If there’s one thing that I wish Hayes would do more of, it’s showing some love. From the get-go he was by no means cuddley, perhaps because of his acid reflux. Or, maybe it was cuz it’s just his personality. At any rate, he’s never liked being held. He likes squirming away. That’s what he likes.

Over the past month, however, this has been starting to change. He’s learned to sit on things like chairs, stoops and laps. The good news is that this has translated into more cuddle time for Jen and I. Now, he will come up to us when we’re sitting on the ground, turn around, and sit on our laps. It’s awesome. Then he actually stays still for up to five minutes. Five whole minutes. Is anything better?

Now every day at Sagalyn East it’s an out-and-out love fest! Ok, maybe not, but it’s a start.

my son was very much the same way in that we couldnt get any cuddling time in b.c he was just too busy. But once he learned how to sit on things (such as laps) we starting getting our few minutes a day. He learned to give hugs along with his kisses and we get those too now. i love it.

I love this picture of you two. So darned cute. And the reverse sit and spin is just another benefit of parenthood. I love it, too.

I hear ya man. I can’t wait til we can get a hug or something back. The wanting to be picked up thing is great but I still feel like a taxi service now and then.

My husband and I are big cuddlers. So my fear is that our child won’t. Our cat hates to be held and it practicallly kills us because we turn into Lenny from Of Mice and Men and want to cuddle and pet the crap out of her but she won’t let us. So I fear for our child. And for ourselves.

Congrats on the major milestone though!

We had the same experience in the beginning. Daniel was not interested in cuddling at all. But this started changing the past 6 months or so and now he’s becoming more “normal”. We even get a goodnight kiss. Glad to hear you’re getting back some more love from Hayes!
