Baby Foodies

January 18, 2006

Ok, Hayes got up at 4:30 this morning. That’s all I’m going to say about that.

On to the topic of the day, food. You know, what do you feed a one year old. There was a very interesting article in the New York Times Magazine, Generation Pad Thai over the weekend about what chefs feed their kids. Though I’m not a chef by trade, I do have a bit of training in the field, and I would love to agree that chefs’ kids eat better. Maybe Hayes does, but maybe he doesn’t. You decide for yourself.

Here’s the “people food” that he likes:
Pumpernickle Bread
Blue Cheese
Rissotto
Lobster
Chanterels
Brocolli with butter — lots of butter
salmon pate
steak
venison
table crackers

Crap, now that I’m thinking about it, he does eat pretty well. The funny thing is that he hates everything that is people food unless he sees someone else eating it first. Then you’d think it was all the best food in the world. The challenge is setting up his dinner plans to meet with ours so that he has an opportunity to see us eat people food and in turn eats it himself. So, most of the time he just ends up eating that organic jar food. Which sucks. I’ve tried it.
