What would make them better is a top-mounted flash unit (have a hotshoe?) to get well-lit warm shots that light up the entire room. A camera's built-in flash gives people an unnatural, pale or shiny appearance with no shadows. I like 5 of 8's expression the best, but 4 of 8 has the best color because it uses the room's natural lighting. The photos look great.
