Baseball

June 4, 2005

I know I’ve covered this before, but HBomb loves baseball. And it’s really strange. It’s not even a recent thing… he kicked the most in the womb during the Sox run to the World Series. And now… well, if he’s crying, he’s sure to calm down if a ball game is on. Then cry during commercials

He reacts similarly to football. Actually, he did in the womb, but was far too young to appreciate the Patriots. Stranger still is that as a child, I could care less about baseball or football or anything sports. It was only in highschool that I truly started to appreciate organized sports. And Jen, well she grew up not watching or playing sports. So, really, his interest in sports is baffling… but if it means I have to watch more Sox games, you won’t find me complaining.

It gets even better, my 2 year old has to tell me who is up to bat, she knows more than I do!

I’m gonna have to remember this one. I’m always looking for an excuse to watch the game!

Oh man, please tell me whatever you’re doing so I can copy it…I live in fear that my upcoming firstborn won’t be a sports kid. I think I’d start bawling if we can’t bond over a ball game. Selfish I know, but oh well.

From the moment that it became real that DC was getting a team I salivated over the dream of taking my twins to see their first ballgame before they’re even a year old. However, it seems my Girl Twin has a crippling fear of people in baseball hats, which we discovered when I came in from shovelling the walk one day and she began to cry at the sight of me. Baseball hats have elicited similar reactions from her mother — we’ve tried different hats, different teams and logos. Same reaction. I can’t in good conscience take her to RFK to be surrounded by 35,000 people in baseball caps. So me and Boy Twin will have to watch on tv for now.
