The first time Colby Grace ever slept through the night, my husband and I woke to a bright sunny morning...we sat up in bed "Oh my God!" I screamed "She didn't wake up...something is wrong!"

We jumped out of bed and ran into her room to find her sound asleep and peaceful (and with a colic baby you know how much peacefulness is cherished). After that first night of hours and hours of sleep, it did get better. Her sleeping habits consisted of much longer stretches. It was a turn around point for both my husband and I. We went from walking zombies to more refreshed happier parents.

Isn't it just a cruel joke that your body gets so used to waking up that when the kid actually does sleep for a long period of time your body wakes you up anyway and you check on him? Argh.

What really sucks about sleeping habits is when they finally start sleeping through the night long enough to let your body get adjusted to the new schedule then they decide, oh gee, I think I need to stay up all night again....

They do that to keep us on our toes. There's a secret signal that goes out from the MotherShip high above our pitiful planet that instructs the babies who sleep through the night to randomly wake up every hour or so and vice versa for the babies like the Hbomb.

It's all part of their plan.
